Technical Writer / Editor

Understanding of banking fundamentals and experience in Risk, financial services, legal or government publications.

Our client, one of Australia's big four banks are seeking an accomplished Editor with experience in Banking and Financial Services to join their Risk Division to develop Board, Board Committee and Management Risk Committee papers, so that they have a clearly articulated purpose, a logical structure, engaging content and comply with requirements set by Secretariat and Group Risk Governance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Establish timetables and communicate and enforce deadlines to ensure papers are reviewed and submitted to Group Risk Governnce and Secretariat on time
  • To work with the Executive Manager, Risk Capability to develop an integrated strategy to lift the overall quality of reporting to the Board and Board Committees in line with recommendations (including embedding the use of standardised templates)
  • Develop tools such as style guides to encourage consistency between Risk papers
  • Work with Risk division authors to set Motivate goals to improve their writing and provide feedback on how they are tracking against said goals
  • Provide input and support on ad-hoc editorial requests as required (for example strategy papers and regulatory response materials)

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to present technical and complex content in an engaging way, as well as an ability to adapt tone of voice and approach to suit relevant audiences
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to keep to deadlines and manage others to do the same
  • An understanding of banking fundamentals and experience in Risk, Financial Services, Legal or Government publications and / or document preparation
  • Ability to simplify messages and ensure key information and recommendations are made clear to enable decision making by the Board and senior leaders
  • Experience working in a large organisation with complex structures - ideally 10+ years' experience
  • Experience in managing senior stakeholders, with the ability to build and manage strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and business partners
  • Ability to operate independently and respond flexibly in a fluid, fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Ability to guide and mentor a range of writers to provide them with the tools to produce high quality outputs and ensure continuous improvement of content over time
