Community Engagement Coordinator - (Mental Health)

Opportunity to identify and respond to the needs of vulnerable and at risk veterans, current and former defence force members and/or their families.

A fantastic new opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified mental health professional (Social Worker/Mental Health Nurse/Clinical Psychologist) working with a leading government organisation, based in Cairns.

Working collaboratively with both clients and patients a like you will drive community engagement and identify needs of vulnerable defence veterans and/ or their families. You will play a key role in impacting the lives of people who have given and served their country and have the opportunity to truly make a difference.

The position aims to optimise a consumer's wellbeing and participation in their community through community engagement, collaborative recovery work and complex case management.

The Role:

Being a true professional all intervention implemented will be evidence based with tried and proven results. With the patient, and their wellbeing, at the forefront of your thinking, you will provide:

  • Using a community engagement framework, propose and facilitate innovation initiatives that contribute to evidence informed business improvement strategies for vulnerable or at risk veterans, defence force members and their families
  • Complex case management
  • Liaise and form partnerships with key external stakeholders
  • Community development and service promotion

About You:

  • Qualified Psychologist with AHPRA Registration or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with full Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) registration (or equivalent)
  • Valid Working with Children check & Vulnerable peoples check
  • Extensive experience within the clinical case management space (2 + years)
  • Defence and Veterans Affairs knowledge (distinct advantage)
