AO6 Corporate Communications Officer

AO6 Communications Advisor required for a 6 month contract role. Immediate start focusing on project communications and stakeholder engagement.

We are currently working with a large State Government Department seeking an experienced AO6 Communications Advisor to join the team on an initial 6 month contract basis. Based in Brisbane CBD this role is reporting directly to the Executive Manager and responsible for writing and editing, relationship building, making presentations, project management, visual communications, communication planning and management and organising communication events. This role is to partner with the change and stakeholder engagement manager and review, update and implement the high-level communications and engagement plans.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely and effective communication to a diverse range of stakeholders both internal and external to the department and significantly contributes to strategic change management.

Some of the Responsibilities in this role include;

  • strategic planning of communication activities aligned to project deliverables and change management requirements
  • prepare time sensitive written materials including speeches, newsletters, website content, publications, presentations, roadshows and lunchbox sessions, media releases and factsheets;
  • drafting, proof reading and editing documents on behalf of other project staff
  • developing material (case studies) that chronicles the projects successes, alignment to stakeholder feedback and lessons learned
  • partnering with the project team to understand and develop key messages and generate new, innovative ideas to communicate them
  • Project plan and schedule communication activities that align with project deliverables and the change management strategy
  • production of a range of communication (briefing memo, targeted email, meeting/presentation, project newsletter, intranet page, website, video content, media releases, article for inclusion in Department newsletter, Internal Social Media etc) suitable to the target audience


To be considered for this role you will have;

  • proven record in delivering significant communication, marketing and engagement programs within a government setting
  • an analytical and strategic approach, with a focus on delivering responsive, high quality and effective communications strategies and solutions
  • strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate succinctly and with influence
  • proactive engagement with stakeholders, ability to work with all internal areas and has great attention to detail
  • ability to work independently and part of a team to elicit information and material to inform communication material and planning
  • demonstrated experience in developing communication strategies for a project with multiple components, involving a broad range of geographically dispersed stakeholders
  • strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate succinctly and with influence
  • ability to work autonomously as required, to deliver high quality communication products
  • completion of a degree with relevant experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
