Product / Automotive Engineer

Very well established Engineering Company located in South East of Melbourne is looking for a Product Engineer for the Automotive Accessories department. Primary responsibility will be the design, development, validation, release and approval of components and production processes. This position will be required to apply engineering knowledge to a wide range of assignments of high complexity and technical review.


  • Lead and development of conceptual and production designs for new products and processes
  • Review technical documentation to ensure feasibility of product design and manufacture
  • Coordinate project planning, resource requirements, key milestones and timing to ensure all internal and customer targets are achieved
  • Ensure all designs conform to customer requirements and/or relevant industry standards, OH&S regulations and quality requirements in-line with project outcomes
  • Develop and plan all projects around systems and ensure all objectives/targets/milestones are met
  • Respond in a timely and accurate manner to all requests for information both internal and external
  • Liaise directly and indirectly with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure all project requirements are delivered

Skills and Attributes;

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical and/or Manufacturing)
  • Knowledge of principals and practices of lean design, design for manufacture and standardization of process and products
  • High level computer skills; CAD, Microsoft Office Suite - Project, Excel and Powerpoint, knowledge and understanding of MRP systems and BOM's
  • High level communication including presentations and ability to present confidently and accurately
  • Ability to work under pressure across multiple projects and assigned work targets
  • Preference for exposure in an automotive related position within a product engineering group / department
  • High level of knowledge and experience with plastics, metal fabrication and press tooling is required.
